Suggested readings

Readings the group adds during the quarter, beyond the thirteen assigned pairs. Anything here is optional. A suggestion is not an endorsement, and nothing on this page has been through the reading audit that the assigned pairs went through.

Add an entry by opening a pull request that does two things: append the record to references.bib, and add a bullet below citing that key. Keeping both in step means every suggestion accumulates into the same bibliography rather than into a list of loose links. See how to contribute for the mechanics.

Say why it belongs here. One sentence on what the paper claims and one on which meeting it bears on is more useful to the next reader than a title alone.

Here is the format. The first field is your BibTeX key prefixed with an at-sign, which is what renders it as a citation and pulls it into the bibliography:

Promoting a suggestion

If a suggestion turns out to be load-bearing, it can move into a session page as an optional extension, or displace an assigned paper in a later revision of the curriculum. That requires editing curriculum.json and the session file together, because tools/validate.py checks that they agree. Raise it as an issue first so the change is discussed before the syllabus moves.
