My passion is to use seismology as a tool to study our environment. I focus on the Cascade Volcanoes, a complex setting where glaciated peaks, steep rocky slopes, forests, rivers, and volcanic activity interact. Seismic methods provide a unique window into these dynamic landscapes, allowing us to track changes in subsurface properties across both time (from decades of seismic records) and space (down to meter-scale resolution with distributed acoustic sensing). I use passive seismicity to track movements of ice, water, and magma to gain insights into environmental conditions driving geohazards such as eruptions and mass movements.
